Caesars Sportsbook has officially opened its doors at Harrah’s Casino in New Orleans – and sports betting fans are already pouring in to place wagers at the deluxe new play station.

Caesars (CZR) is thought to have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars kitting out its new sportsbook in time for the 2022 NFL season.

NFL betting remains the most popular sport to wager on in the US, ahead of basketball, and casinos up and down the country have been preparing for the new season by opening or revamping their sports betting halls.

And now Harrah’s New Orleans has its own sportsbook for bettors, fully branded by Caesars. A new poker room is also part of the investment, while Horseshoe Bossier City is getting revamp too.

“The opening of our world-class Caesars Sportsbook locations and the new World Series of Poker Room add to the legacy that Harrah’s New Orleans and Horseshoe Bossier City have built in the Gulf Coast region.

“We’re ready to welcome sports fans into our sportsbooks, and we’re proud to open the largest poker room in Louisiana, true to the WSOP brand and what it represents.”

“The openings mark another phase in the ongoing $325m transformation of Harrah’s New Orleans into Caesars New Orleans, which is expected to be completed by 2024,” the company stated.

“Bettors can take advantage of additional ways to deposit funds, faster payouts, live scoreboards, and expanded in-play betting options, as well as same-game parlays, new cashout functionality, and more ways to wager with thousands of additional markets.”

Present at the Harrah’s launch was Pro Football Hall of Famer and former New Orleans Saint Rickey Jackson, who placed a $1,000 first bet on Saints to win the Super Bowl at 40/1 (+4000) odds. Any winnings will be donated to the United Negro College Fund (UNCF).

Caesars has also rolled out its app in New Orleans, which means players can wager on the phone app and watch sports live, rather than betting on the machines.

Caesars also plans to open a WSOP room on the Las Vegas strip.
