Amid a flurry of World Series of Poker events in Las Vegas, one tournament festival that could easily go under the radar if it wasn’t so successful was the second CardPlayer Liefstyle Mixed Game Festival. Thankfully for all concerned, the host with the most, Robbie Strazynski, pulled out all the stops at Resorts World as thousands of hours of cash games were played and a very special prize was awarded.

A New Resort

This time around, Strazynski took the Mixed Game Festival to Resorts World in Las Vegas, which is situated at the North end of the world-famous Strip. The Mixed Game Festival fun takes place at low stakes and gives out big rewards the more hours you put in, giving poker players of every level the chance to play mixed games they may not have played before.

Strazynski told PokerNews this week that he was “ecstatic” with how the event went, adding: “Resorts World is the perfect Las Vegas destination to host a Mixed Game Festival and everyone from the players to the dealers to the room management was super happy with the outcome over the five days of play.”

All in all, the second Mixed Game Festival feature over 1,200 hours of cash game action, and while most of it was played purely for profit and the fun of playing the most varied game formats out there in one room, there was also one big extra prize on offer.

Martin Smith Wins PokerStars Prize

“[The] Table is still full and we could go on another hour or two. It’s been amazing.”

The big prize of the week was provided by the event sponsors, PokerStars. The biggest poker company in the world according to online market share gave out a €400 seat into a Road to the PokerStars Players Championship tournament and this prize was won by Martin Smith, who couldn’t have loved the event more.

“It’s 5:25am here and this is the last table standing of the CardPlayer Mixed Games Festival,” he said. “Table is still full and we could go on another hour or two. It’s been amazing, if you get a chance to jump into one of these, don’t miss it!”

All told, Smith logged over 60 hours of poker across the Mixed Game Festival after travelling from Malta to play at the event. That’s some round trip and it was clear that Straziynski and others felt the love for the dedication to the event shown by patrons.

Plenty of poker companies contributed spot prizes that were handed out throughout the festival, such as PokerGO, D&B Publishing and BBO Poker Tables. With luminaries of the game such as Eli Elezra, Greg Raymer and Norman Chad all arriving to play at different stages, it can only be called an unquaified success. When and where will the third Mixed Game Festival be held? Wherever it is, you won’t want to miss it.
