On April 21st to 23rd this month, the inaugural PokerGO Tour (PGT) Heads-Up Showdown will take place at the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas. The $25,000-entry event will see 32 of the best players in the world take each other on in No Limit Hold’em

When Does the Tournament Take Place?

The $25,000-entry PGT Heads-Up Showdown is due to be held on consecutive days between April 21st and 23rd at the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas, Nevada at ARIA Resort & Casino. There will be 32 players taking part, each of whom will put up the $25,000 buy-in, which will create an $800,000 prize pool.

While the top 16 players in the current PGT leaderboard will be offered to enter the event first, before the tournament is opened up to other players. There are some terrific players who have been invited to take part, but there are sure to be no shortage of takers given the prestige that is attached to the series.

After the PGT top 16 have been invited, the remainder of the field will be made up of “special invites” that will include professional poker pros but also celebrities and other famous personalities.

Which 16 Players Will Be Invited?

Of the 16 players who can expect an invite in the post, the current PGT leaderboard topper is Isaac Kempton, who currently 1,375 points. Kempton is followed in the counts is Ali Imsirovic, (1,369) who won last year’s PokerGO Tour.

Last month’s massive Wynn Millions winner Tony Sinishtaj (1,250) completes the podium of the top trio, though it’s worth mentioning that all players who take part would start with the same chips, so 1st is the same as 16th.

Others who will be able to take part as a matter of course if they stump up $25,000 are Sean Winter, Sean Perry, Nick Petrangelo, Jeremy Ausmus, Alex Foxen, Alex Livingston, Cary Katz, Daniel Negreanu, Brock Wilson, Jake Schindler, Tamon Nakamura, Erik Seidel are Joseph Cheong.

Japanese player Masashi Oya just missed out on the top 16, in 17th place. But with friend and compatriot Tamon Nakamura making the cut, Oya will surely be given an invite on the basis of his strength in recent events, especially the final event of the 2022 U.S. Poker Open where he ran Sean Winter so close to the title in an effort to help Nakamura win the overall leaderboard.

All three days of tournament action will be available for viewing.

With 32 players playing down to a winner, whoever takes the title and six-figure top prize with have to beat a minimum of five terrific poker players in order to prove their worth.
