Winning at poker is one thing but winning at poker and slot machines is another. One gambler mastered it over the weekend, however, as a female player from Monmouth County took herself to Harrah’s in Laughlin in Atlantic City and won an incredible $1.7 million.
Paying Her Dues
The monumental $1.7 million ‘MEGA Jackpot’ win – $1,681,458.40 to be precise – came at the hands of a progressive poker game. The lady, who is known as a long-time customer of the casino, bet just $5 at the Harrah’s Resort and her numbers came up. It is the largest-ever jackpot payout ever paid out on a progressive poker game at a Caesars property in Atlantic City, the same place where Ryan Dodd won a $250,000 Mystery Bounty prize earlier this week.
Playing as part of a multi-linked All-In Progressive Poker Jackpot, the lady’s win stunned both herself and those around her as the table game side bet, which is offered by Caesars, Tropicana and Harrah’s Resort in Atlantic City, paid out. Anyone playing the games has it all to do in order to take home the jackpot, so the female gambler knew her stuff.
Playing in games such as Texas Hold’em Poker, Four Card Poker, Let It Ride, Three Card Poker, Ultimate Texas Hold’em, Mississippi Stud Poker, the lady stunned watching dealers as she paid them a collective tip of an amazing $77,000.
Giving It Away
When the announcement was made, Poker Twitter and Harrah’s Facebook page exploded into life. Not only was the win a huge one, but the tip – the $77,00 amounting to a whopping 4.5% of the overall haul. For her five-dollar stake, the lady accrued a ridiculous return of over 33,000,000%
“I’m telling you. Caesars entertainment [are] giving all the money away before the new owner takes over.” Said one cheeky fan on Twitter. Was the tip enough? Most thought so, praising the lady for being so generous after the luckiest experience of her life.
While it may not have been at the poker tables, the fortunate win was a stunning one and one of the biggest prizes ever to be awarded in a poker table game, whose growth in popularity have been both rapid and extremely robust despite a pandemic and closedown of live casinos for the best part of a year between 2020 and 2021.
Was It the Biggest Jackpot in the Past Year?
The jackpot was a miraculous once-in-a-lifetime win for the gambler, but was it the biggest in the last 12 months? Oddly, no! it may have been massive, but in actual fact there was a bigger progressive jackpot win at the casino table games in 2022.
Back in August, the West Virginian poker player Benjamin Flanagan won the biggest ‘Bad Beat Jackpot’ of $1.2 million as he lost with quad aces against a royal flush at Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh! It was the biggest bad beat jackpot won in U.S. poker history within the walls of a live bricks-and-mortar casino.
The actual record for 2022 (and beyond) came at one of poker players’ favorite ever places to play, the Playground Poker Club in Canada. Winning $2.2 million back in June, the ‘lucky’ player lost with quad tens to scoop the seven-figure record. Online, the biggest score of 2022 was awarded to a player on GGPoker, home of this week’s incredible 2023 Super MILLION$ opener. Won in January, the Omaha Bad Beat Jackpot of $593,177 was awarded to several players, with Ibai Delgado taking the biggest slice of the pie, an amazing $366,159.
