The WM Phoenix Open is also known as the Waste Management Open, as it is sponsored by Waste Management, obviously. But it is also known for the 16th hole at TPC Scottsdale, which features an amphitheater called “The Coliseum”. There, fans are encouraged to yell and cheer on their favorite golfers, even while they’re in the middle of their swing. It leads to one of the most unique experiences on the PGA Tour and it is usually the most-attended tournament of the year. Now, let’s look at some Waste Management Open odds.

TPC Scottsdale in Arizona is a par-71 that tips out at 7,261 yards. Due to COVID-19, the Stadium Course hasn’t been as raucous as usual, but they’re opening back up to full capacity in 2022. While the 16th hole gets most of the attention, players then have to deal with a drivable par-4 at the 17th hole and a tricky 18th hole.

You can watch the Phoenix Open on The Golf Channel all four days, starting off on Thursday and Friday from 3-7 PM ET. The Golf Channel also tees off the action on Saturday and Sunday from 1-3 PM ET, while CBS picks up on those days from 3 PM ET until it’s over.

Waste Management Open Odds – Favorites

Jon Rahm (+750)

Jon Rahm hits a golf shot

The world’s top-ranked player posted a T3 at the Farmers Insurance Open, where he didn’t have his A-game and was still in it until the last hole. Rahm also returns to a place where he is beloved. He went to school at Arizona State in Scottsdale and often dons a ASU football jersey at the 16th tee. Rahm would love to win in his adopted home city. He has also gone T16-T11-T10-T9-T13 in the last five years at this event.

Justin Thomas (+1200)

Thomas struggled over the weekend at Torrey Pines two weeks ago, shooting 73-74 to finish T20. But he’ll be one to deal with at TPC Scottsdale as Thomas has gone MC-T17-3-T3-T13 over the last five years here.

Viktor Hovland (+1400)

Hovland has been on a heater since November, winning three times in five starts worldwide, including most recently in Dubai. He missed the cut here in his lone trip in 2020, but with the way Hovland has been playing recently, he deserves a look at any course he tees it up at.

Waste Management Open Odds – Contenders

Patrick Cantlay (+1600)

Patrick Cantlay prepares to putt

Cantlay made a late run at Pebble Beach, but a poor back nine relegated him to a T4. However, that Cantlay’s fourth finish of fourth or better in his last five starts overall as he looks to keep rolling off his FedEx Cup win from last year. Cantlay will tee it up for the first time ever at TPC Scottsdale.

Hideki Matsuyama (+1600)

Matsuyama won here in 2016 and then did it again in 2017, winning both times in a playoff (over Rickie Fowler and Webb Simpson, respectively (both of those players went on to win; Fowler in 2019 and Simpson in 2020). The reigning Masters champion currently leads the FedEx Cup standings and has two wins in his last six starts worldwide.

Jordan Spieth (+2000)

Spieth was entertaining as usual at Pebble Beach, where he finished solo second. His shot from the edge of a cliff on the eighth hole is one you’ll be seeing in highlight packs for years to come. Spieth has been inconsistent TPC Scottsdale, going T9-MC-MC-T4 in his last four trips here (he didn’t play in 2019), but you never know what you’re going to get with Spieth.

Brooks Koepka (+2500)

The defending champion (also two-time champion as Koepka won here in 2015) shot 68-66-66-65 in 2021 to edge K.H. Lee by a single stroke, but it was an up-and-down year for Koepka overall as he battled injuries. He appears to be healthy now, but Koepka needs to get his game in gear as he has missed the cut in three of his last five starts overall.

Waste Management Open Odds – Longshots

Webb Simpson (+3300)

Webb Simpson hits a drive at the Open Championship

Simpson teed off the season with a T61 at the Sony Open, and has been off since then. However, he is coming to a place where Simpson has been very good, considering he was T42 here in 2021. Simpson beat Tony Finau in a playoff in 2020 and lost to Matsuyama in the 2017 playoff. Look for Simpson to get his season started in Scottsdale.

Bubba Watson (+3300)

Watson has been inconsistent over the last 12 months, and he is coming off a solo second in Saudi Arabia, where he was beaten on the last hole by a 90-foot eagle putt from Harold Varner III. He has five top-five finishes in 15 starts in Scottsdale, although he was T22 here in 2022.

Andrew Putnam (+8000)

Putnam has gone T27-T14-T6 in his three 2022 starts, and he finished a solid T7 in Scottsdale last year. Putnam had a tough 2021 as that T7 was one of four top-10s in 30 starts. But he’s off to a good start this year, so Putman will hope to keep it rolling.
