Following an enthralling Olympic men’s golf tournament in which Xander Schauffele picked up the gold medal for the United States, the PGA Tour returns for the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational. It is the third World Golf Championship of the year as Collin Morikawa won the WGC-Workday Championship, while Billy Horschel won the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play. Who tops the WGC-FedEx St. Jude odds for this event, where Justin Thomas is the defending champion?

The WGC-FedEx St. Jude will be held at TPC Southwind, the Memphis course that hosted the St. Jude’s Classic from 1989 to 2018 (the tournament started in 1958). This event used to be called the WGC Invitational and it was hosted at Firestone in Ohio, but was moved to TPC Southwind. It is a par-70 track that tips out at 7,233 yards, and it’s a course with small greens. That means the emphasis should be on hitting those greens and then giving yourself as many birdie chances as they can.

On Thursday and Friday, you can watch this tournament on The Golf Channel from 12-5 PM ET, and then on Saturday and Sunday from 12-2 PM ET. On the weekend, CBS carries the action from 2-6 PM ET.

WGC-FedEx St. Jude Odds – Favorites

Brooks Koepka (+1200)

Koepka won here in 2019 with a score of -16, he was T2 here last year as well as in 2016. The sixth-ranked player in the world has gone T2-MC-T4-T5-T6 in his last five starts overall. More importantly, he has been rested since that T6 at the Open Championship. The players listed under “Other Favorites”, they’re getting docked because of all the travel they’ve had over the last few weeks.

Jordan Spieth (+1600)

Jordan Spieth waits to hit his shot

Spieth also didn’t to the Olympics, and he moved up to 11th in the world rankings after finishing solo second to Morikawa at the British Open. Starting with the Match Play, Spieth has gone T9-1-T3-T9-T30-2-T18-T19-2, and that win came at the Valero Texas Open. Spieth was T30 here last year and T12 the year before.

Dustin Johnson (+1800)

Johnson won the old St. Jude Classic in 2012 and 2018, and he won this same event in 2016 at Firestone. The world’s second-ranked player recently missed the cut at the 3M Open, but he finished T8 at the British Open. Johnson will be banking to a return to form on a course he likes.

Other Favorites – Collin Morikawa (+1400), Xander Schauffele (+1400), Justin Thomas (+1600), Rory McIlroy (+1800)

WGC-FedEx St. Jude Odds – Contenders

Daniel Berger (+2200)

Berger, ranked 17th in the world, finished T8 at the Open Championship, and he has been rested since then. He also loves TPC Southwind. Berger went back-to-back here in 2016 and 2017 at the St. Jude Classic, and he was T2 here last year.

Louis Oosthuizen (+2200)

Louis Oosthuizen salutes the fans

Oosthuizen rose to eighth in the world rankings thanks to a T3 at the 3M Open, which followed a T3 at the British Open. He has been one of the top two or three players in the world since the Masters and TPC Southwind is a course where shorter hitters can prosper. Ootshuizen has gone T20-T6 in two trips to Memphis.

Patrick Cantlay (+2500)

Cantlay is one spot behind Oosthuizen in the world rankings, although he missed the cut at the British Open. Including the Masters, Cantlay has gone MC-MC-MC-T23-1-T15-T13-MC, so it has been feast or famine for him as of late. It should be noted that his win came at the Memorial Tournament. Cantlay was T35 here in 2020 and T12 in 2019.

Other Contenders – Bryson DeChambeau (+2500), Scottie Scheffler (+3000), Webb Simpson (+3300)

WGC-FedEx St. Jude Odds – Longshots

Tony Finau (+4000)

Tony Finau watches his golf shot

Finau has been quiet as of late, going T15 at the British Open and then T28 at the 3M Open. Results at TPC Southwind for Finau have been mixed, going T65-T27-MC in the last three years. But eventually, Finau is going to put four good rounds together.

Sergio Garcia (+5000)

Garcia didn’t represent Spain at the Olympics, so he should be rested here. He is working on a streak of five straight finishes between T17 and T25, so he has been hanging around. Garcia has gone T35-T40 in his last two trips to TPC Southwind.

Billy Horschel (+8000)

Horschel has gone T40-67-MC-T54-T3, so that’s not good. However, he won the Match Play earlier this year and finished T2 to Morikawa at the Workday, so he might just love the WGC events. He also finished in the top 10 at TPC Southwind between 2013 and 2017, he was T9 two years ago and T25 last year, so he loves this course.

Other Longshots – Will Zalatoris (+500), Tyrell Hatton (+5000), Cameron Champ (+10000)
